The rock came to know ...

Back to Peter.

Isn't it just awesome how this rock-hard man (who's name means 'rock') was transformed by the kindness and love and grace of Jesus.

You know Peter. He was this tough fisherman who stood unmoved in the law. He didn't hesitate to do his own works. It was Peter who, on the Mount of Transfiguration,  wanted to straight-away build huts for Moses (the law) and Elijah (the prophets) wanting to give them honour at the same level as Jesus (Grace). But God Himself intervened and said of His Son: "This is My Beloved Son. HEAR HIM."

It was Peter who wanted to take matters into his own hands drawing a sword when the soldiers was about to arrest Jesus.

... but this man, Peter, was gradually and completely transformed by walking with Jesus - ultimately getting to know Grace (Jesus) to the extent that he declared filled with the Holy Spirit of life:

[2Pe 1:2-3]
v 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

v 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue

The word that Peter uses for "knowledge" comes from the Greek base word "epiginōsko"̄  meaning:
  • to become thoroughly acquainted with,
  • to know thoroughly
  • to know accurately,
  • to know well
  • to know
  • to recognize by sight, hearing, of certain signs,
  • to perceive who a person is
  • to know, i.e. to perceive
  • to know, i.e. to find out, ascertain
  • to know, i.e. to understand

This is marriage-talk!
It us relationship-talk to the ultimate!
It is heart-talk
It is intimacy-talk!
It is understanding Jesus as you personal Friend and Saviour!

When looking at these verses, we can only say that Peter became thoroughly acquainted with Grace and Peace Himself! HalleluYAH!

HalleluYAH!
