The End of Formlessness

Have you ever been told that sin is a non-issue and there is no need for a saviour because? It's a common challenge in the secular world, and it highlights a fundamental misunderstanding of what the Bible teaches about sin and salvation. To truly grasp the Gospel message, we may need to delve into the most profound declaration ever made by the greatest prophet that ever lived, John the Baptist (Luke 7:28). And perhaps it's time to accept that our part is all about receiving (lambano), that comes with the afforded righteousness and gloriousness of the absolute Grace extended onto us, shed abroad from before the foundation of the earth.

So, imagine the scene on the dusty banks of the Jordan River, a crowd gathered around John the Baptist, a wild-looking prophet whose life's mission was to prepare the way for the Messiah. People from all walks of life came to him, confessing their sins and seeking a cleansing baptism. John's ministry was powerful, yet he consistently pointed beyond himself to the One who was to come.

Baruch Ha Ba Ba Shem Adonai: Embracing Wholeness in the Name of Jesus

One of my earliest memories when I became intimately aware of the love and presence of Christ was the ancient Hebrew blessing, Baruch ha ba ha Schem Adonai (בָּרוּךְ הַבָּא בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה)? It's a phrase bursting with deep and intuitive meaning: 

"Blessed be He who cometh in the Name of the LORD."

The original Hebrew text cuts right to the heart of it: "Blessed be He who cometh in the Name of Yahveh." This isn't just a greeting; it's a deep declaration of authority, identity, and divine purpose. It is a very personal statement, using the Personal Name of the Blesser Himself.

But who is it that comes in His Name?

The only prophecy ever!

I was talking about Jonah!

Today I am remastering that post and renaming it The only prophecy ever!

Why?

Because lately I have been looking into some archaeological videos, finds and documentation discovered in one of the greatest Assyrian empire cities of all times, Nineveh.

And …

And the prophecy I shared is one of the greatest revelations of who God is and the best up-front statement of the truth you can hope to hear, ever.

It was so monumental that it moved the wicket hordes of the capital empire city of Assyria to agree and accept the only good news there can ever be.

The endeavour itself was epic!

What is the story?

Who was the prophet?

Why was there a prophecy?

What makes it so significant?

Let me answer some of these questions to myself and you can decide whether you agree or not.

Jesus, the dog and the children

In most cultures calling someone a dog is the ultimate insult.

Similarly, calling someone a child or childish, offends that person maximally. 

However, in the economy of Jesus this is not true and we may even find that the exact opposite is appropriate.

There is this cool, prophetic history in the book of Numbers (13 and 14) which resulted in Joshua and Caleb being the only ones from their generation to enter the promised land - Joshua and the dog ... and the children from the younger generation.

How is this significant?

The Shepherd bowing down to the rebellious

The Old Covenant is deeply intertwined with the prophecies that speak of the glorious reality of Jesus Christ.

Today, I’m diving into Psalm 78, a powerful reflection by Asaph, whose very name means "gatherer" or "receiver." Asaph, the psalmist, gathers and receives divine truth, then delivers it to us.

This isn't just an ancient poem; it’s a living word that speaks directly to us, revealing God’s unwavering kindness even in the face of human rebellion. It recounts the turbulent history of Israel, from their miraculous deliverance from Egyptian bondage, highlighting how, time and again, they "did not believe in God, and did not trust in His salvation [Yah’shû‛âh]" (verse 22). In the same sense it speaks to us today.
