Task-master or Close-Companion? Paraklētos

It is amazing how we sometimes attribute functions and characteristics to the Holy Spirit that are simply not true. These characteristics are far divorced and distant from the kind and beautiful character of our Abba and Jesus Himself.

The Holy Spirit is not the One who reminds you of your bad, sinful past!

Instead, the Holy Spirit is 100% exactly like Jesus and He reminds you of how righteous you are in Jesus. In fact, He is the very Spirit of Jesus, the very Breath of God, the Heart of the Father.

He is the Spirit of Grace taking pleasure in living right inside of us!

... and He teaches us about one subject - Grace, Jesus!

"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." Zec 12:10

The Holy Spirit is your companion ... always there ... always loving, kind, merciful,  full of Grace and full of Truth!

So, Paul says in Romans:

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of יהוה, they are the sons of יהוה. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." Rom 8:14-15

Note something very peculiar here. It says "those led by the spirit" and not "those led by the law"

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal 5:18

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:2

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter [law], but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 2Co 3:6

Being led by the Holy Spirit automatically means that you are free from the law (and the other way around). The Word of God constantly teaches the two ideas as being mutually exclusive!  You are either alive for the Spirit of God and dead for the law or you are living by the law and dead for the Holy Spirit!

What does it mean to be led?

The Greek word for lead or led is agō  and it means to be led or moved, taken, encouraged (remember that the HS is the Encourager)

Holy Spirit

Paraklētos!

But when the Comforter [Paraklētosis come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of meJoh 15:26

Paraklētos is constituted of two Greek words:
Para - beside, along side
Kale - to call, to be called

Who is the Paraklētos?

He Who leads you, called to be at your side, the Teacher, the Latter Rain (see here) -
... your Close Companion,
... Encourager,
... Helper,
... Comforter,
... Counselor,
... Intercessor

.... leading (encouraging) believers into a greater apprehension of the Gospel, of Truth Himself, just like Jesus said.

The word paraklētos occurs in the Bible (New Testament) 5 times - the number for Grace! See here for the Comforter prophesied!)

When Solomon referred to Jesus sticking to us closer than a brother (Pro 14:24), he was referring to Jesus as Christ in us the Hope of Glory (Col 1:27)... He Himself as the very Spirit of Grace, clothing us with His Spirit.

Just how close to us is Jesus?

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heartRom 10:8

Can not get closer than that!
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." Rev 2:7
