Undaunting confidence

Why should we have absolute confidence and courage to take on any and every situation that presents itself in our lives?

Well, some of us do and some don't.

And some are uncertain and don't know how.

In this post I am reassuring myself to do exactly that. I am also reinforcing the reasons why, presenting myself with the very evidence that makes this an open-and-shut case!

Words have meaning and power. And like the wise Solomon explained, Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. Proverbs 18:21 AMP

Let's get into the confidence matter

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]” John 15:33 AMP

Be of good cheer

The KJV says be of good cheer!

Be of good cheer is the Greek word tharseō occurs 7 times in the KJV Bible. The correct translation would be - to be of good courage, exercise courage or be bold, go bravely.

Good cheer, courage, boldness, confidence, undaunting … in the Greek is tharseō.

So, what is the context of tharseō ?

The word is exclusively used by Jesus in the New Testament.

Yes, I have it right … just made another quick check.

When?

When:

  • Jesus healed the paralysed boy (Mat 9:2)
  • Jesus healed the haemophiliac woman (Mat 9:22) & (Luk 8:48)
  • Jesus revealed Himself in the miracle of walking on water (Mat 14:27) & (Mar 6:50)
  • Jesus healed the blind man who saw Him as the promised One (Mar 10:49)
  • Jesus encouraged His followers to take courage and dominion (Jhn 16:33)
  • Jesus encouraged testifying Him in the face of danger (Act 23:11)

… ALL RED LETTER WORDS in each of these instances.

The context of the quote above?

Perhaps we should look into the context of why Jesus said these words in John 16:33 …

Jesus is saying these words in response to what He said just prior in Chapter 16 … and it all has to do with ASK. I posted extensively about ASK here and here.

Astonishing!

There is a reason for our confidence.

Why should we go out boldly?

Because there is a fine line between erōtaō and aiteō. And we should know the difference. (read why here in this post)

I is a whole new perspective and position we take on!

Because we should not just accept everything that is happening.

Because we are empowered.

Because Jesus overcame and we are overcomers.

Because of the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Go with courage!
