Righteousness revealed - get your ID

The problem with the modern-day Christian is that we do not know our identity.

We do not know who we are in Christ.

We therefore do not know that we are given the authority to reign ... we are therefore defeated Christians during our tenure here on earth.

It's an identity-crisis!

So, as a Christian, how is your righteousness revealed?

Righteousness

Well, first of all you have to know that you have already been made righteous. Not to many religious denominations will teach you that. But the Word of God does!

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him 2Co 5:21

Believe that He who knew no sin was made to be sin in your place ... and you have become the righteousness of God Himself.

Yes. All you have to do is believe and receive!

Righteousness is like the central theme for you and me

Righteousness, in a broad sense, is the state of a person who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God.

In being righteous man attains a state approved of God whereby we have full integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, confidence ...

In a more focused sense, it is when we attain such justification and virtuousness that we are worthy heirs of His kingdom.

How then do I know that I am righteous?

It is revealed.

In Romans 1:16 to 17 Paul says For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Your righteousness is revealed from the little faith that you may have to Faith Himself in you so that you may live by Faith.

Can you see that it talks about Jesus? (remember our posts on faith here, here and here?)

Where from?

We host the Holy Spirit here and now. Again Paul expounds in Romans 3 on righteousness when he compares self-righteousness with the righteousness received from Jesus

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested,
being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Rom 3:21-28

The conclusion is what?

... that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

How?

... his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Right here right now?

Right here and right now!

Paul goes on to explain so much about righteousness, but then he he clearly explains the when part in Romans 5:17-21.

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Therefore ...

We enter in by confidence, take dominion by confidence and rule even in this life.

In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him Eph 3:12

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16

Can I just say that again?

... even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ

HalleluYAH!
