whosoever

Who is whosoever?

The dictionary defines whosoever as whoever. Used as a pronoun in a sentence we usually get something like  "Whosoever wants a soda needs to pay at the counter," which means that anyone (whoever) who wants a soda has to pay at the counter.

The answer is very simple. It is anyone.

So, who is this in Bible terms?

The Word of God very cleverly uses whosoever as a pronoun. A pronoun is a word that can function as a noun when used by itself. It refers either to the participants in the exchange (e.g. I, you ) or to someone referred to in the exchange (e.g. he, it).

So, a whosoever is both us and them and everyone in-between, the carriers of the Gospel as well as the receivers of the Gospel and even those who think they are or are not.

1 John 5:1 says  WhosoeverG3956 believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every oneG3956 (same Greek word used here) that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 

And John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 

Whosoever is around every corner and crevice in the New Testament. In many instances, such as the examples above, the Greek word pas is used (1238 occurrences). The word simply means all, any, every, the whole, thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.

Mar 8:35  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

And in the above context the Greek word ho (hos, hay) (in 1364 instances) is used for whosoever, meaning who, which, what, that ...

Any whosoever?

In the New Testament whosoever is not only used for those to whom the Gospel is intended, but also to those whom should be bringing the Gospel.

It is really a whosoever to whosoever blueprint of God's Good News message to be made available everywhere (wheresoever - see our previous post) to whosoever by whosoever.

Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

John 3:14 - 15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
