Know your place ...

It is always good to know where you are ...

No, seriously!

Not knowing where you stand may cause you to behave and react in totally strange and irrational ways. It may even make you do things that you ought not to. And for many perverse reasons ...

Know where you are

It is for this exact reason that Paul had to remind the Galatians of who they are in Christ.

After receiving Christ they were somehow told (by some Pharisee-law-lover-preacher) that they had not arrived yet. They had to do in order to become. The were convinced that they had to obey the law even though they knew fully well that obeying the law had nothing to do with them having received the precious Holy Spirit.

So, ask yourself

Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Gal 3:2

He proceeds in a very explicit manner "Are you fools?"

"You guys started out in the Spirit ... now you want to get yourselves justified by obeying the law (own fleshly will-power)?"

And answer one simple question

"Answer this then if you are so bright. Does He to Whom the Spirit belongs to and provide It together with all the miracles do so because of your obedience in the law or by you hearing the Faith?" Gal 3:5

... or be answered

Paul answers his own question. "No! You are justified by Faith having heard the Gospel." Gal 3:11

Then explain

So, why do you want to go back to the curse?

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse ... but the just, which you already are, shall live by Faith. Gal 3:10-11

... and here is the punchline, even though it is so often denied

The law is not of faith. Gal 3:12

"And you do not receive the Spirit by obeying the law. The promise (divine assurance of good) of the Spirit only comes by means of Faith!" Gal 3:14

So even today,  some of us foolish Galatians have been led to believe that the law is meant for us?

What for?

See what the Amplified Bible says.

"So that the Law served as our trainer [our guardian, our guide to Christ, to lead us] until Christ [came], that we might be justified (declared righteous, put in right standing with God) by and through faith."

"But now that the faith has come, we are no longer under a trainer (the guardian of our childhood)."

"For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith." Gal 3:24-26 AMP

You can not have a sign-post forever

There is an end to the trainer that abides in a scroll somewhere and there is a glorious beginning with the Teacher (Spirit of Truth) abiding within.

Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Rom 10:4

You have reached your destination

Like travelling on a road, once you have passed the sign-post and reached your destination, the sign-post serves no further purpose. It becomes obsolete

Once justified, the trainer (sign-post) becomes insignificant in light of One Who had justified once and for all and now lives within!

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever John 14:16

... in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise Eph 1:13

Your location is now known

You are in Him. He is in you!

Glory to Jesus!
