Substance

We have spoken many times of Faith.

And how that Faith is a Person (check here and here and here and elsewhere).

And how that we have each been dealt THE SET Measure of Faith.

But all of this stands on what?

Well, funny you should ask ...

Let's get to the substance

One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1

To get a clearer picture we are going to have to look at some basic Greek.

The word used here for substance is hupostasis, directly translated as support or essence or assurance.

It is a compound Greek word from hupo which basically means to be under or of a place that is or from whence, and the word histēmi which means to stand or abide or establishappoint, bring, continue, ...

Hupostasis?

To be under the Abidance.

TO BE ESTABLISHED IN SUPPORT. To be established in the original place that God intended.

To place oneself within the guidance of Him who abides.

To be unshaken in the established Word, Jesus!

Can you see that?

Look and see?

When we are established in our Support, we look further.

We look not at what this world presents as the truth. We look beyond to see the real Truth!

We (and our vision) are not hindered by our circumstances. We see Jesus! We walk by faith. Not by sight. 2Co 5:7

And if we do not see?

We have been given dominion.

We speak the things that are not as though they were!

In the image of God, who ordained us with power and authority to rule and have dominion on this earth, we speak the Truth until we see evidence - Him. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2Co 4:18

Where is the evidence?

The evidence is already there. His name is Jesus! In Him all are blessed. In Him each and every good and perfect gift presents itself. In Him there is no sickness, no death, no lack, no discouragement, no pain, no shame ...

Speak and command those things, the things that you as an heir is entitled to. Speak to those things that are not as though they are so that they present themselves to the heir in the Kingdom of God!

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Heb 11:3

Before God created this earth and the heavens and all that we now see, there was nothing to see at first. But He saw it by Faith and spoke it into being, Father God Who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Rom 4:17

Jesus, the substance and the evidence of the finished work of the cross!

Looking again at the Feast of Trumpets, Rosh Hashana

Feast of trumpets (Rosh Hashanah)

I am again amazed at how many people feel obliged to celebrate the Jewish feasts.

What amazes me even more is just how wonderfully Jesus had completely fulfilled each and every one of these feasts.

In and around September the Jewish feast of Rosh Hashanah is celebrated (The dates on our western calendar differs every year because our calendar is not synchronized with the Hebrew calendar. In 2015 it was on 14 to 15 September, in 2016 it was on 3 to 4 October, in 2017 on 21 to 22 September, 2018 on 10 to 11 September and 18 to 20 September 2020).

Let's ask some questions about the feast

Heritage of the saints here on earth

In South Africa September is Heritage month.

You find that many of the diverse cultures will celebrate their heritage and culture throughout the month by dressing in colourful attire, participating in cultural events and taking part in activities that celebrate whence they come from.

All well and good ... what about the bride of Christ?
