The denominational churches have as many interpretations of the Word of God and who God really is, as their multitudes of doctrines.
... but it is really very uncomplicated!
I am fascinated by the book of Hebrews.
Who is God?
Who is God?
Hebrews sets out to tell us exactly Who God is.
The book was written mostly to people who in ancient times were tempted to fall back unto the law because the return of Christ didn't seem a reality to them. It is an all-faith-encouraging book that says: The Way of Christ (Christianity) is not something added onto the law and prophets of the old covenant. Instead it is something new that existed from the beginning!
Substance of Substance
Even the start of the book heralds the beautiful Gospel of Grace:
Elohim, having of old spoken in many portions and many ways to the fathers by the prophets,
has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has appointed heir of all, through whom also He made the ages,
who being the brightness of the esteem and the exact representation of His substance, and sustaining all by the word of His power, having made a cleansing of our sins through Himself, sat down at the right hand of the Greatness on high, Heb 1:1-3
The very Substance
Hebrews 1:3 uses a beautiful Greek word to explain what God did.
Hebrews 1:3 uses a beautiful Greek word to explain what God did.
It says God sent His Son who is the exact representation or express image of his person (KJV). The Greek word used for "express image" is charaktēr (χαρακτήρ). This word is significant because it tells us that Jesus is not only the very instrument of the Father, but also that He is the:
Stamp and seal of God
Exact expression of God
Precise representation and likeliness of God in every respect
He is God Himself!
Read the book of Hebrews and this is the very message you will find in every passage.
The book of Hebrews is there to encourage you that it always was, is and will be all about Jesus!
HalleluYAH!
