The Word from beginning to end - dâbâr

The Word is the Word

The word in Greek for the Word of God is Logos. It actually means the logic, the reasoning, the calculation, the matter, the essence, the account, the reason, the cause, the explanation of God.

Think of these meanings for a minute ...

... and where it comes from ...

We are told where the Word comes from

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:1

Jesus is the very reason, the essence of God. He is the full explanation of God. He is the logic and matter that is God. He is the very object and cause of God!

Isn't this just mind-blowing?

He is God!

We are because He is

Not only is He the reason for our existence and purification and justification and holiness ... He is also the very object of our affection, as we are His first.

He is the very person upon whom all our sicknesses, troubles, shortages, relationship problems, our inabilities, inferiority, insecurities, deficiencies and lacks were taken and dealt with once and for all!

And its not Greek

Oh, the Greek is such an eloquent language!

But, if the Word was God from the beginning in the Greek, then what does the Hebrew say?

Let's consider an interesting wordplay on the word word as found in Jeremiah chapter 1.

Then the word [dâbâr דָּבָר which, from the Hebrew means the matter, the cause, the affair, business, the case, the message, the reason, the tidings, the sign, the explanation ... mostly as it does in the Greek. The word-picture depicts the following: the door to the house is the highest person (that is Jesus)] of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;

and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee,

and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Jer 1:4-5

Sounds familiar?

Didn't Jesus say in John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture?

How beautiful is the Hebrew word-picture then?

The Word is the Door!

God says to the young Jeremiah that before time was (remember John 1:1?), He knew him (Jeremiah that means Yah will rise -a beautiful shadow onto Jesus) and that no matter what will happen (because He knows), He will be with him and speak His words in his mouth.

It gets closer ...

What did Paul say?

How close is Jesus (the Word) to you?

The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart Rom 10:8

He, the Word Who became flesh, now by His Spirit abides within us today. The Holy Spirit Himself speaking the very Word of Truth in and through us. As close as you can get!

But, it doesn't stop there.

Because Jeremiah (Yah will rise) is told by God how to reign in this world!

What?

Yes!

As Jeremiah goes on to protest his calling, saying that he can not even speak (this Word), we later get to know how Jesus raises him up. So Jeremiah declares in verses 2, 4, 11, 13 how the Word of the LORD came upon him. The Word of Truth comforts the young prophet, builds him up in his inner most being saying:

I have put my words [His essence and reasoning, dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus] in thy mouth (Verse 9)

I will hasten my word [dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus] to perform it (Verse 12)

I will utter [dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus] my judgments against them touching all their wickedness (Verse 16

Don't say you can't speak

But the LORD said unto me,

Say not, I am a child:

for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee,

and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak [the word here is dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus]. Jer 1:7

To do what?

To take dominion and rule by His Word and reign in this world over the princes and principalities, not giving them any space to take control!

See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms,

to root out,

and to pull down,

and to destroy,

and to throw down,

to build,

and to plant. Jer 1:10

How?

Just ...

... gird up thy loins, and arise,

and speak [dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus] unto them all that I command thee:

be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. Jer 1:17

Later on God even tells Jeremiah straight that I will make my words [dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus] in thy mouth fire against the father of lies! (Jer 5:14)

Because ... His Word is in you, you are invincible

For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land,

against the kings of Judah,

against the princes thereof,

against the priests thereof,

and against the people of the land. Jer 1:18

... because He put His Word in his mouth and in his heart!

The Word that saves you

And they shall fight against thee;

but they shall not prevail against thee;

for I am with thee,

saith the LORD, to deliver thee. Jer 1:19

It is New Testament Gospel!

So, looking again at the Door we entered in, Peter says it well referring to Jesus as the very Entrance, the Beginning of our tenure in the kingdom of God, when he says in 2 Peter 1:11

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Word was and is and be forever!

Truely, Jesus the Messiah is the Word Who was from before time was, Who became flesh and dwelt among us, Who administered such a great salvation for us, Who rose from the grave and restored us in the very position God intended for us when He exclaimed having created us in His very image saying "and let them have dominion" Gen 1:26.

All scripture is about the Word, but all of the Word is about us!

Just speak the Word!

Just speak [dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus] the Word [dâbâr or דָּבָר - the Door, Jesus]!

Apply Jesus!

His Word is stead fast and reliable because the Word is Jesus and true until the very end. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Mat 24:35

To Yah'shua, Jesus, the Word, God Himself be blessing, power, honour and glory forever and ever.

HalleluYAH!
